So we've been here in the Grenadines for about a week or so. I'm not really sure as I tend to lose track of time. We've had an amazing time. The Cays were so beautiful. We hiked up to the top of one of the little islands and had a spectacular view.
One of the most popular past times here seems to be kiteboarding and wing foiling. Mike and I took a couple kiteboarding lessons when we lived in California and even bought all the gear. The lessons we had there were not very good. So we decided to try it again. We also tried wing foiling. So we left the Cays and headed back to Clifton, on Union Island, where there is a kiteboarding school right on the beach
There we took a wingfoil lesson. I gotta say, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. But that's ok, because we also took a kiteboarding lesson. That was a lot of fun. Mike and I did a shared lesson with Maarten who is from The Netherlands. The three of us plus a dinghy driver, V.J., headed over to Frigate Island, about a mile away and began our lesson. The little island where we set up our kites also has a little restaurant and bar, much likes Tim's Sunset Grill. Anyway, Mike, as usual, picked up kiteboarding much quicker than I did. That's okay though, I still had fun and learned a lot. I even took another private lesson with Maarten the next day. I was finally able to get up on the board and ride. It was a blast. Mike took all that equipment we bought in California, which had never been used, and got out on the water. Unfortunately, the kite seemed to be leaking air, so his session didn't last long and now we need to get the kite fixed.
After the lesson we all had lunch at the little bar/grill. BBQ chicken, salad and garlic bread. De-lish!
That's Kimberly, the owner of this cute little establishment.
Maarten had told us that she will make a dinner of whatever you want, but you have to give 24 hour notice. So we made reservations for the next night to have a lobster dinner. It was a wonderful meal, but I think I still like Tim's better.
The sunset was beautiful
It's finally time to leave here, although I wish we could stay another month. We will start heading north now, visiting a few islands on the way back up to Puerto Rico.
