Life in Grenada

Mike, Stella and I arrived in Grenada 3 months ago. We've been living the life we once only dreamed of. It's hard to even remember how we got here.
We've grown accustomed to the simple life we live, but not bored. Every day is an amazing blessing. We've been hopping from one anchorage to another, usually staying no more than a handful of days. We spend most of our time outside, either swimming and snorkeling or relaxing in our beanbag chairs, listening to music and taking in Mother Natures beauty. We do still workout most days during the week, either on the Peloton or the TRX and weights.
I cant really say we've done anything terribly exciting the last three months, but it's been awesome. Along the way we've met some nice people and done a few fun things. There a couple of facebook groups for Grenada cruisers that we belong to, that will post different events going on around the island. While we were hanging out at the south end of the island we decided to joined a dinghy poker run that raised money for youth sailing on the island. We had so much fun. We took Stella with us. She loved the dinghy ride and meet8ng tones of new people. I ended up with a terrible hand, but I had a good time. We had the option at the end of purchasing two new cards. Mike had a 9, two 10s, a queen and a king. He decided to trade the face cards for 2 new cards. He drew his first card......a 9. Then he drew his second card......another 9. And just like that, he had the best hand and won the poker run. The grand prize was half of the proceeds. Of course, since this was for a good cause, he gave the pot back. We did walk away with a case of hard seltzer and several gift certificates to some of the establishments.

After leaving the south, we made our way back up to Carriacou for more of that great lobster dinner. We had heard that there was going to be a hash on the island and I have always wanted to do one. We stopped is Hillsborough and anchored outside the town. We met up in town at a bar on Saturday around 2 pm. Of course we had to start with a beer. After everyone was checked in, we loaded up in buses and were driven to other side of the island. There were three trails, walkers, runners and Ironman. Needless to say, we stuck with the walkers and I'm glad we did. We followed the trail the hare had created for us. The terrain consisted of dirt roads, walking trails, a cemetery, steep hillsides, narrow paths along said steep hillside, and roads. There were times I thought I wouldn't make it. It would feel like and nice easy stroll through the park one minute, then a mile of straight up a hill the next. It was approximately 5 kilometers of grueling hiking. Poor Mike was attacked by a tree branch and suffered a good sized gash to the head. Well like we say, it's not a good day unless someone's bleeding. Just before the finish line, they had coolers filled with ice cold beer. Oh a beer never tasted so good. When we returned to bar in town we were drenched in sweat, exhausted and hungry. We were treated to free food and cheap beer. It was a lot of fun and I really want to do another one soon.

Other than a few adventures, we've mostly been chilling on the fly bridge. We've watched as most of the cruisers here have left and headed north. We will stay for a few more months to get the bottom paint redone and do a little work on the boat. We are still loving every day and can't believe that this is our life.
In the words from Tommy Boy..." Good God man, what the hell happened to you??" That gash looked nasty, glad you're ok!!! Miss you, and looking forward to seeing you in the spring!!!
I am so thrilled that you are enjoying your retirement so much. Your dreams have come true. So sorry that Mike was attacked by a tree. Did you stitch him up? I love following your travels. Keep posting all your fun. I love you and look forward to the day that you will be back in Florida. Mom.
